Wikiwand: Faster Wikipedia Reader App Reviews

Almost perfect

The loss of a star is for the lack of other standard swipe gestures that would be really useful: swipe left-to-right to go back, swipe down on images to close them.

Great UI, could use offline functionality

Really love this app but saving articles for offline reading would be a huge plus.

Awesome!

Great App! Two thumbs up!

Great App, but.....

Really screams for an iPad version. The Safari extension for OS X has spoiled me. Otherwise this is the best Wikipedia app out there.

this is what i am talking about! In a single word: Phenomenal!

Excellent - but why only three languages?

Particularly with Asian languages where the script is different, it would be nice that it automatically searched.

Unencrypted searches

Did a test to see what kind of data the app sends and despite Wikipedia supporting encrypted searches and browsing the app doesnt use it and it also sends the searches to unencrypted to wikiwand.com. Besides this, its sleek and useful. Two stars due to the lack of encryption...

Outstanding

Absolutely the best !!

The right idea

I love this app, but very often is doesnt load the whole page. It sits and says its loading, but never does. Doesnt matter if Im on wifi or cellular. Easier navigation would be great too and access to my viewing history.

Amazing

At last I can retire old Articles.app

Easy

Very user-friendly though sometimes it freezes.

Excellent Design

This is much better then the official Wikipedia App, its truly gorgeous and functional.

Took 2 weeks to download

I dont even want it anymore

Great

Theres many Wikipedia apps — and I think Ive tried at least eight others. Typically I wouldnt rate an app like this, as they usually arent all that special, but this one is pretty cool, and definitely deserves a nod. I highly recommend.

Better Than Original

Like others I was looking to redownload the Wikipedia app for my phone and came across this alternative. I dont usually go for generic or revamped versions of apps, but am I glad I gave this one a shot. Where the color schema drew my eye, the features and common sense UI experience kept me. In a world where Im constantly looking to delete and save space on my phone, this app has proven itself crucial and tenured. I have reviewed less apps than I have fingers and have at least 30 different applications and downloaded 3 times that. My only hope is that an iPad compatible version is next.

Complaining in; 3, 2...

My only complaint is that I wish the app had the ability to save pages for offline reading like the Wikipedia app does, or at least the ability to bookmark pages and easily find & read later.

Love it!

Ive been looking for a cure-all Wikipedia app for a long time, and Ive tried out literally (not figuratively) every one since the days of the 1st generation iPhone. While Ive had a few favorites in the past, theyve aged without updates and maintenance, and no longer offer as rich an experience as they once did on the current generation of iPhones. Since then, Ive constantly been on the lookout for a Wikipedia reader that offers the right amount of functionality with a good UI. A lot of the apps dont incorporate the best features, and while some do, the UI isnt very appreciable. I had become so familiar with the list of Wikipedia apps on the App Store that I thought I was going to go back disappointed once again. However, this relatively new entry caught my attention, and I have to say Ive been impressed. The UI offers the right amount of novelty, and the best features from the Wikipedia website have been deliciously incorporated into the app. I guess a Wikipedia app has found itself a space on my phone finally. Feedback for the devs: • How about putting the article search magnifying glass on the top right corner (instead of the language button)? That way, searching always stays in reach. In fact, reversing the order of the buttons on the top seems to make sense as well. • Can we have an option to change fonts (and a night reading mode)? Keep up the good work! :)

Wikiwand

Easy to navigate to deeper and deeper levels of investigative relationships and understanding of the original query and enables you to return to the initial article and place therein. Wonderful App. I use it often for research.

Perfect

As a person with a low attention span, reading the information the way its displayed in this app is extremely helpful. If I want to skip unnecessary information in a Wikipedia entry, there is a very well integrated table of contents as well as a good way to search specific words. Overall, everything works really smoothly and is tailored so well to please the eye. Great stuff!

Best Wiki Viewer Ever

After trying several Wikipedia viewer Wikiwand is the clear winner!
